40-50 students + staff, trip limit

In previous years we bought a Kombi ticket, allowing access to 95% of session events for both day and night festivals across several fantastic venues. Ask Phil, Ewan or Joe… or even ME (Andy).

As artist and designers, part of your ongoing professional practice is to develop your online identity. This will be a key tool for presenting your digital portfolio work (Website) to prospective employers.
There are many routes to achieving this, some situated in existing discipline specific platforms (hubs) and others allowing bespoke website construction and curation. Remember, only include your best work, be selective and get peer feedback.
Here is an example of an undergraduate I know who created her own portfolio website (including a software tutorial page) and is now working at Sony London as an Environment Artist, Karen Stanley:
Also, visiting lecturer freelance Game Artist Matthew Beakes website is an interesting example and is worth viewing for additional presentation ideas. Format and range of content.
A sample of serious industry focused online Portfolio Platforms:
Some online website building tools to create your own unique site:
Also, if you are building your own website (for an online portfolio or a game site), you will want to buy your own web Domain name (URL web address i.e. buy a .com). Many online vendors are out there, check a range to compare prices and deals (check cost beyond year 1).
GoDaddy (also has a web page builder)
It’s time to believe in your talent and get involved with The Rookies, CG student awards.
The submission period opened last week and closes 14th May 2016. Categories include Illustration (aka concept art) and next-gen games. So get you best work together and chance your arm as there are many prizes and internships to be won!
Plus, winning it looks great on your CV =]
YOU’VE GOT TO BE IN IT TO WIN IT!
First up, Yazmin Dyer Yr2 CGA.
Its now March and next month is REZZED!
The indie game conference runs from Thursday 7th April to Saturday the 9th April. Each day there are developer talks, SWAG, play new games and an opportunity to network with developers. Great access! As a course and as individual practitioners with a view to working in the games industry, we should strive to network and be conected to the UK indie scene as much as possible.
Loads of great and bizarre games to play like… Job Simulator.
One of our former graduates, Joe Coggins, is now working for Glow Games Studio who’s indie game Dungeons and Robots, now early access on STEAM. Their game will be showing at REZZED.
